Why Incorporate? Let’s Answer That Question
A common question that many future business owners ask themselves is, “Why should I incorporate my business?”, or “Is it for me?” While I”m no business / financial expert, I went ahead and looked at the options that you can explore when you’re looking incorporate your business. It’s never too late to consider it!
First, there are some things that you’re going to want to look into before you start to incorporate.
- The Cost - Is it going to be worth it for your company to pay the fees each year? Does this fee make sense for your business?
- It’s Complex - Are you going to be able to pay more out to your accountant to get your taxes situated? An incorporated business is going to be a little more complex than say, a LLC.
- Are you going to see benefits? Many businesses are going to incorporate or do something along those lines just based on the fact that they are going to see tax benefits. Are you going to see these type of benefits?
- Why do you want to do it? First off, you’re going to want to meet with a professional because he/she is going to be able to tell you what they think is best for you. You may find out that you’re going to pay all of these fees and you’re not going to get much in return. In business, it’s all about that ROI.
What are the benefits that most businesses see?
Makes you look big - When you have the “Inc.” after your business name, it’s going to make yourself look bigger than what you really are. If you want an image such as this, you’re going to get a big plus here.
There are tax benefits - I would say that most of the businesses out there are going to do this based on the fact that they are going to see tax benefits. Does this mean you are? Not necessarily. Again, this is why you’re going to want to meet with a professional to help you out.
Some liability protection – You’re always going to want to protect your assets just in case something happens with your company. The last thing that you want is for an employee to sue you and find not only is your business gone, but your personal assets as well.
These are all things to consider. If you want to get a little more information on incorporating, visit this website, as well as this one.
