When you’re ready to start a small business, you may be like many of the newer owners out there that have no clue on what they are doing. Head on over to the SBA
The SBA or otherwise known as the Small Business Administration have a ton of free training courses right on their website that can help you get your business off the ground. From workshops to videos, you could literally spend days on this site absorbing information. Head on over to SBA.gov/services for more information.
Check out your local community college
Every state has it’s own community college, right? Head on over to your local community college website to see what kind of classes there are that you can take. Community colleges are a great way to learn when you don’t have a lot of money to spend. Always remember that you don’t have to get a degree to attend college and may take classes that you want to know more about.
Try online non-profit organizations
Like the SBA, there are many non-profit organizations online that can help you with getting your business off the ground. Websites like MyOwnBusiness.org will allow you to take courses online for free. With over 15 sessions, you’ll be able to start from the basics and end with more advanced sessions. When something is free, I always say take advantage of it, you have nothing to lose.
Search for specific industry courses
If you’re going to open up a specific shop like a hair salon or comic book shop, look to the Internet for courses that relate to that industry. You’ll find that each industry is different when it comes to marketing and opening up shops in areas, etc. A simple Google search should be able to get you in the right place.
Check out Amazon for business books
A quick search on Amazonwill show you that there are thousands of books that can help. Head on over to one of the biggest E-tailers in the world and look for a book that fits your needs. Depending on what you want will ultimately decide on what you’re going to pay. Books are going to range anywhere from a dollar to as much as a few hundred.
