Tips To Increase Your Sales
Even in a down economy, it doesn’t mean that you should stop putting effort forward to increase your sales. Instead, you should be thinking of creative ideas to sell even more than what you sold last year. Don’t let the media fool you when it comes to the economy because people are still buying out there! Even if we had an unemployment rate of 10%, that still means 90% of us are still working and bringing home money to spend.
Get a sales force – make them work
If you already have a sales force, offer them incentives and goods. People love to work hard for prizes. You could have a contest where the person that sells x amount of products win a flat screen TV, etc or if you don’t already have a sales force, consider getting one. It’s a win-win situation. If you make 30% on average, offer a salesperson 10%, you still get 20%.
Make sure you know what you’re selling
If you don’t know what you’re selling or your sales staff doesn’t know either, do you think your customers want to buy from you? Instead, try and attend seminars on the product or read up on as much material as you can. The more you know, the more you sell, trust me on this one.
Are you rewarding your customers?
If you’re not rewarding your customers right now, how come you’re not? Start up a rewards system where you can reward the people that are loyal to you. Let’s say you own a dry cleaning business. For every 10 shirts they give you, you can give them 1 for free. You can set up punch cards or if you want to be more advanced, you can use a gift card based system. Customers love businesses that are loyal to them.
Increase your advertising
Even though the economy can be in the toilet, it doesn’t mean you can’t stop advertising. Instead, start looking for other ways to advertise. You want to create a brand for yourself so that when people think of a particular business, they think of you. There are some businesses out there that can’t really rely on repeat customers such as roofing or health insurance plans, etc. Instead, you want people to think about your business when they think of those categories.
Offer free services or samples
A great way to just get people in the door are by offering free services or samples. If you own a roofing company, you can set up free consultations where you can bring the actual shingles and people to the potential customers home. Here, you can discuss pricing plans, etc. The more aggressive you are with the customers and the more you treat them like family, the better your business is.
Increasing your sales comes down to the owner. If you’re not doing anything about it, you can count on seeing your sales drop. If you want to do something about it, I suggest you try the tips out above and hopefully you’ll see your sales numbers rise.
