Starting a Foreclosed Home Clean up Service

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know the economy isn’t doing that hot, and home owner’s are foreclosing on their homes left and right.  I’ve always been a firm believer that no matter how the economy is, there is always a business that you can take advantage of.  For this economy, I think a foreclosed home clean up service would be ideal.

What is a foreclosed home clean up service?

Since many homes are being foreclosed on, banks are going to find that many irresponsible home owner’s are going to either trash the homes, or leave things behind.  Instead of selling “as-is” with a load of garbage inside, they will hire a company to do a quick clean up.  This is where you can step in!

How can I sign up and start?

Contact the banks - The first step that you may want to do is write down a list of at least 25 banks in your area.  You’ll want to get a hold of their home division that specializes in foreclosures.  Tell them about your service, and ask who you can talk to in order to possibly be noticed.

Contact investors - Investors love to jump on foreclosures, no matter how bad the market is.  If you know of any investors, or someone that can get you in touch, tell them what you can do, and see if they are interested.  If you do a good enough job, you may find that you’ll have business for a while.

Put a listing up – If you don’t want to contact people, create a small ad on something like Craigslist or your local newspaper.  If you’d like, create a smaller website, and list your services, your price, etc.  This is another great way to reach out to people.

The great thing about doing these clean ups is that you’re going to be able to find some hidden gems.  From furniture to smaller items, you may be able to keep them, and sell them to others.  So, not only will you make money cleaning up, you’ll be able to find some great items in the process!
