Sales Letter Templates: What Should it Look Like?
When you’re getting ready to prepare a sales letter and even if it’s your 30th time, you may want to spice things up with a new layout, or if you’re like me and you rarely send them out, you probably want to know what it looks like.
If you want to find a template online, there are a lot of great resources online such as the following…
- Templates for Microsoft Office (great if you have Word)
- A Business Resource
You’re going to find that many out that many of the templates are somewhat similar, but there are some things that you’re going to need to include, no matter what template that you pick out.
Let’s take a look at what you should consider when writing up a sales letter…
Who are you catering to? When you’re writing out this letter, who is going to be your audience? No matter what you promote, you’re going to have a particular crowd. We know that males generally won’t want to purchase a pregnancy based product.
If you can, address it. There are a lot of great automated software pieces out there that can automatically input their name /address. When you make it feel personal, they will feel a little closer to you in a way.
What is it going to do for you? When writing the letter, you will want to let them know how they can solve the problem, or even prevent the problem in the first place.
Let’s say that your product is about morning sickness and pregnancies. Let them know what you’re going to offer them and what they can do to get rid of it fast. You can also give a solution that tempts the reader to buy.
How will it benefit them? Why should they buy this? Why do they have to pay a price? If they can get the information somewhere else, what is going to make them want to buy it?
Make it easy to read. Your sales letter shouldn’t be one huge paragraph. Make sure that you get the spelling checked, as well as the grammar. You will want to use bullet points, as well as bold and italics to get your point across.
Get customers to talk about you. Get testimonials from people that have used your products. Grab pictures, as well as a quote from how it has helped them. Never fake these as it can get you in some serious trouble!
Try it for free. One of the best tips that have worked for me was to give away the product for free. By doing so, they can try it risk free and if they like it, they can pay afterward.
These are all things to consider when writing up a sales letter. What you’re going to find is that if you hire a great copywriter, you can see a huge return on your investment. Take your time to write one, as you can’t write one up in 2 seconds!
