Pick Up Business in a Down Economy
We all know the United States are in rough times right now. If you didnt kno this, you’re either running a very well-maintained business or you’ve simply been sleeping under a rock for quite some time now.
A down economy means that less and less people are spending their money and this trickles down to just about any business. If you business can thrive during a down economy, just think of what it can do during a booming economy. If you’ve found that your business has been struggling in the past year or so due to the economy, I’ve came up with a few tips that you can use in order to build up business.
Focus on your goals – It might be time to look at your goals. Are these goals going to make you a profit down the road or even 5 years from now? If your goals don’t look too hot, you may want to second guess your goal setting and make a whole new goal sheet.
Treat clients like gold – If you have current customers or clients, treat them like gold. Why? When an economy is down, businesses are going to do anything to get your business. If they find a new place to go just because of the price, they may be that companies customer forever. Make sure you treat them like family, offer great deals and try to keep up with your competitors.
Look at your customer service – Is your customer service currently working well? If you have more than yourself working for the company, try and analyze that person on how they work with the public. If they are treating your customers like dirt, you may want to either get new staff or you’ll want to be a little more disciplined when it comes to customer service.
Boost up your marketing campaign – You may find with a down economy that there are cheaper marketing opportunities out there. Now may be your chance to try out advertising in different areas like newspaper, TV, online, etc. Test those avenues out and see if they can bring in new customers to your store.
Think of a referral program- If your business doesn’t have a referral program, think about offering one. Either do it online or try it in person. If you run say a plumbing company, you could give a 10-20% coupon to those that refer new customers. Referrals are huge online, where you can get others to market your business for you.
The important thing to remember when in a down economy is to keep your head up and try to learn the market itself. As I mentioned earlier, if you can keep your business running in times like these, they only are going to get better.
