More Web Site Traffic: 12 Ways to Increase It
As a business owner in this technological era, it’s extremely important that you have a website. If you already have one, that’s great! If you don’t, it’s extremely essential that you either find a company to do it for you, or if you have the time, you can easily set up a blog with platforms such as WordPress (wordpress.org) and Blogger (blogger.com)
For those that already have a website, I wanted to give you some tips on how you can get your website some traffic that can potentially mean more sales for you!
Offer your articles: I’ll start with this one, because it’s what I’m doing right now! Find great blogs / websites online that you would love to share your work with. This is what we call, “guest posts.” With these, you can offer a great, unique article that’s usually over 500 words. In return, the blog owner will link back to your site.
Craigslist: This works great with those that are looking to offer services, etc. If you offer any type of service, you can promote it for free. You just want to make sure that you’re not spamming. Make your title stand out, and watch the visitors come in.
Answer questions: Places like Yahoo! and Answers.com have a great platform, where you can search questions, and answer them. Make sure that the question is in relation to your website. Answer them, and watch people come to your site.
Message boards: There’s a message board for everything, trust me. Find a message board that relates to your field, and start posting. Since 90% of the boards out there allow you to add a “signature”, it’s a great way to promote your site on every post that you have.
Write your heart out: Search engines love fresh content, and as long as you keep writing, you’re going to find that the more you write, the more people can search for to find your site. I would recommend that you write at least 2-3 articles a week to keep your site fresh.
Videos: You don’t have to be a pro to make a video. Create something simple, and upload it to YouTube. What you’re going to find out is that people love to watch videos on particular subjects. If it’s viral, watch the traffic spread!
Blog commenting: There are millions of blogs out there. Find some that you like, and comment on it. Since many of them allow you to leave your website, this is a great way to leave your name and URL. If you leave enough, people are going to click through to your site.
Contact other blog owners: Like guest posting, contact other owners and tell them about your site. You can offer link exchanges, as well as other things. As long as you have something unique, and it’s worth linking to, this can help your traffic as well.
Create articles: There are article directories out there that are relatively big like Ezine Articles, and others. Here, you can create articles for free, and in return, you can link back to your site. This is another great way to build up a reader’s base, and get traffic coming to your site.
Press releases: You don’t have to be a professional to write a press release. If you’re launching a site, or offering a cool new product, let the press know about it. Find a professional company to launch the release for you, or if you wish, you can try, and do it on your own.
Social Bookmark it: Create something that’s linkable, and submit them to huge sites such as Reddit, Digg, and others. If other people like it, and Digg it up, you can soon find out that it will send you too much traffic.
Social Network: The last thing on my list is something such as Facebook. Create a fan page, and make it unique. If you can create something that’s great here, it will spread like wildfire, trust me on this one!
What I have found out is that it takes a long time to see traffic. You’re not going to see it improve overnight, but if you work hard at it, and treat it like a job, you can take my word on it that traffic will soon come.
