Lessons Learned From Being In Business

Lessons Learned from running a businessWhen you want to start a business, you want to learn from the pros.  While I can’t say i’m Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, I’ve been running an online marketing business for a few years.  Am I successful?  I want to think I am but the term “success” varies on each individual person.  My definition may be different from yours.

Over the past couple years, I’ve learned a lot of things and I thought I would share it with you future business owners.  Even if you’re in business now, it’s always great to absorb as much advice as possible.  Is this advice going to work for you?  It could possibly help or maybe it won’t.  It’s up to you to implement these strategies.

Money doesn’t come easy at all

When I first started, money didn’t come pouring in.  I wasn’t making millions in my first three months of work.   I don’t think you’re going to be able to accomplish this task either.  This is why it’s important to have patience.  If you’re not a patient person, I don’t know if you can handle ownership.  You may want to stick with a 9-5 job.

Do it because you love it

When my friends look at me and I tell them what I do, they all want to jump on board.  Look, this is a job and I work 8 hours a week, it’s just at home and not at an office.  Many people think because someone else is making a lot of money that they can do it.  You have to be in the business because you’re passionate about it.  If you have the passion and drive to do something, you can make money.  Just because I cut lawns for a living, it doesn’t mean you’re going to want to do it as well.

NEVER give up

This point goes alongside with my first point.  Every business owner is going to have his/her downtimes and great times.  Never let the down times get to you because if you do, you’re going to have those negative thoughts that drive you to quitting your business.

Always remain positive 24/7

When you think positive, you’re going to take the positive path.  If you think negative, you’re going to go down that road.  Do you see where I’m going with this?  When running your business, think of the positive outcomes rather than the negative ones, it will not only help your business grow, it will help you meet particular goals as well.

Surround yourself with smart people

I had a lot of deadbeat people surrounding me in life asking for money, asking to stay all because they can’t manage their own personal problems.  Am I a bad person for ignoring these people?  Absolutely not.  I wanted to surround myself by success so that I could better myself and get tips from the people who have succeeded.  Sometimes its the people around you that are dragging you down.

Remember that these tips aren’t for everyone.  You have to take each tip with a grain of salt because every business is going to be different.  No matter what kind of business you run, be passionate, work hard and success shall come.
