How to Resolve Conflicts at Your Workplace

At work there will be conflicts with other employees sometimes.  Whether someone is getting paid more than you, someone does less work than you, or you dated someone and aren’t anymore, are all things employees go through.  We can’t get along with everyone in this world, but it is important to remember that we’re at work and not at home.  These aren’t are friends or family members but employees when we’re at work.

If you’re facing a conflict with someone you work with, and you want it resolved, consider a few of these tips below.

Confront – If someone at your workplace bothers you, confront them.  The best thing you can do is try to solve this problem.  Someone might not even know they’re a bother to you, and therefore will never change unless told to.  I’m sure you’d like someone to do the same for you.

Work it out – If the two of you aren’t getting along or even if it’s more people try and work it out.  Remind each other that we come to work to work, and get a paycheck for the end of the week.  We have enough stress, so tell them to minimize that by getting rid of the work conflicts.

Respect – Make sure you have respect for everyone that you encounter.  “Treat others the way you want to be treated”, like our mother once said.  It’s true, if you’re nice to others, you shouldn’t have a problem!

Ignore – If the above solutions don’t work, just ignore them.  If someone is bothering you, ignore them (unless they are your boss of course.)  If you pretend someone isn’t there, they pretty much aren’t anymore.

Think of yourself – When conflicts happen at work you really just need to think of yourself.  If you’re doing a good job, your boss thinks highly of you, and you’re getting all the work done that you need to, who cares what other people think.  Don’t worry about your employees but only think of yourself and your boss.

Having conflicts at work is just uncomfortable.  It makes us not want to go to work even more, and makes work seem even more like “work”.  Try to settle the problems by considering a few of these tips above, and start enjoying the time with your employees again.
