How to Raise Start-Up Capital

Starting up your own business can be a challenge and what makes it even tougher is when you don’t have any money to use.  Even though it’s not the brightest thing to smart a business without any cash, sometimes it’s the best thing you can do if you have a great idea and you want to put it into place as soon as you can.  Starting up capital for your business isn’t going to be a challenge but instead, it’s going to take some time on your part. 

Let’s explore some ways on how you can raise start-up capital –

Try the SBA – The SBA (small business administration) is a great place to start if you’re looking for a quick loan.  They offer bank-qualified loans that can be approved within 36 hours.  If the money is urgent, you may want to check with your local SBA branch.

Try a local credit union – Most small business owners will make the mistake of targetting the bigger banks when they are looking for a loan.  What they don’t realize is that most of the time, you’ll have better luck with with your local credit union.  Try websites like the Credit Union Locator website.

Credit cards – A great way to get some funding is by applying for a business credit card.  A business credit card usually isn’t under a separate business but rather the owner.  So, if you have a poor personal credit score, the chances of you getting a good credit card are slim but if you have a great score, you can count on getting a card with great benefits.

Try loan competing websites – If you’re having a hard time finding a loan you want for your business, you can always try loan competing websites that will compete for your business.  Simply pop in what kind of loan you’re looking for and they will simply e-mail or call you with a quote.  From there, you’ll be able to choose which one best fits your needs.

Partnerships – If you don’t want to go in on it alone, try finding someone that may possibly like your idea and is willing to lend you the money.  This person doesn’t really necessarily have to work with you but rather you can work out terms on how you can pay them back in the near future.

Look into government programs – Did you know that there are thousands of government programs out there willing to help you out with your business?  Do your research and see if there’s a program for you that may work for your future business.  You never know, you could get some free grant money that you never knew about.

These are just some of the ideas you can use in order to get started with finding the money you need.  Try some of these options and hopefully one of them will work out for you.  If they don’t, don’t get discouraged and give up.  Instead, think of other alternative creative ways that will help you raise money for your business.
