No matter what kind of business you run, you’re going to find out that networking is generally the best way to go, when you want to meet new people, as well as learn more about the community.  Not only does networking help you grow your business, you will also find out that you can meet with some people that can help you, or people that you can help.

So, the question today is…

How can I find business networking groups?

Go to LinkedIn: LinkedIn is a great place to meet business professionals all around the globe.   If you’ve never been here, you can consider it a place like Facebook for professionals.  Here, you can connect with other colleagues, meet with other people in your industry, as well as join groups in your area.

Try MeetUp: MeetUp is a great place to not only form a meeting in your area, but find others in your area as well.  What you can do is search here, and see what you can find.  If you can’t find anything that is interesting to you, you can always create a group for free.  You never know who will join it.

Look on Facebook: Many people don’t know about this one, but you can find groups on Facebook that relate to your field.   You may find that while most of them have a “virtual” presence, there are many that meet up in person.

Check your local event: Places like Yahoo have events pages, where you can search out events in your area.  While many of them won’t relate to you, you will find that you can search out conferences that may be related to businesses.  This is a great way to meet up with other people as well.

Just about every business / industry out there have some sort of conference each and every year.  You will find that most of the time, you’re going to have to travel.  While these conferences can teach you a lot, you will also find that many of these tips above can help you network with others in your industry.
