How to Be Competitive with your Business
Competition is always a good thing when you run and own a business. When you look at it from a customer’s perspective, it will lower prices, offer them more choices, and most of all, it allows the companies to provide better customer service. When there’s only one business in town, or your area, you’re going to find that it stinks, because you’re stuck with those prices, services, and more. This is why I always call for competition, because it’s going to keep you in line.
How do you stay competitive with your business?
Customer service is always #1 - When you started your business, you already knew that you needed customer service. If you don’t treat your customers like family, you’ll slowly see your customers fade away. Treat each and every one of them like gold, so that they keep coming back to you.
Be unique - When you start up your business, we don’t want another place that’s going to offer the same old thing just like the other guy. If you’re the same, what’s going to make them come to you? Be unique, and offer services that your competitor doesn’t.
Make sure you know your product -No matter what you sell, you want to be able to answer every question that is thrown at you. This will also include your staff. If your staff doesn’t know what your customers are talking about, why would they keep coming back?
Offer the right price - One of the main reasons people are going to go to your store is because of the pricing. If you don’t offer great prices, and you’re not competitive with the Internet, and those around you, you can kiss all those customers goodbye, no matter how good your services are.
Location - Location is your biggest thing when it comes to opening up a shop. You can have the best prices, and services in the world, but if no one knows about your location, how are they going to find you? Never EVER be cheap with your building lease.
Market all around - To get new customers, they need to hear about you. This is why you should market around the clock. In today’s world, there are so many ways that you can advertise. From TV to the Internet, try all of these options to see what works.
It’s not hard to stay competitive. Just offer great prices, and follow some of the tips mentioned above. If you can do this alone, you should see your business succeed.
