How to Advertise on Craigslist.org
Craigslist.org is a great tool if you’re looking to reach a targetted demographic for next to nothing. In fact, posting on 99% of Craigslist.com is free. No matter what kind of service you have, you can’t afford to not post on this service. What do you have to lose, it’s free!
I’m going to show you step by step on how you can get your business posted on Craigslist and simple steps you can take to get the people you want screaming for your business. Getting an ad posted doesn’t take long at all.
Create your account- To buckle down on spam, Craigslist will require that you create an account to post your ad on the website. You will also have to verify your phone number. As long as you’re legit, you won’t have to worry about anything. Don’t worry about your phone number as well, they just use it for verification purposes and will not solicit you in any way.
Find your city- Once you create your account, find the city you’re offering your service in. If you live in Detroit, Michigan, don’t post in Dallas, Texas because I’m sure you won’t want to travel there to do painting jobs. When you find the city nearby, simply click on that city. Craigslist has over 900+ cities in the USA alone to post on.
Locate your area – Every city has the same layout, they just target that particular city. When you find your city, glance over all the topics. There’s everything from “for sale” to “jobs”. Find the category that will best fit your business. If we still use the painting business example, we will probably want to post our services in the “household” services section.
Post your ad - When you find the area you want to post in, click on the topic and hit the “post” link in the upper right hand corner of the page. Once on this page, it will instruct you on how to build your ad. Depending on what area you’re advertising in will depend on the competition. Make sure you make a unique ad copy and be short and sweet. No one want to read an ad copy that’s 2,000 words long.
This is how you can start posting ads on the Craigslist. As you can see, it’s not that hard at all. I recommend you continue to post ads weekly because as the days go on, your ads will be pushed to the bottom. If you’re not receiving a good response, try switching up your ad, try different categories, etc. Once you find a good ad copy, use it and take it to your advantage. Nothing beats free advertising.
