Employee Evaulations, and Keeping Them Happy
For most business owners, the main reason that your small business is up, and running, is solely because of your employees. If you want to keep your employees happy, these 5 tips should help you get them on the happier path.
Offer your employees incentives
By always keeping the employee happy you will get more productivity as well as not risk losing your best employees to the competition. Any easy way to accomplish this is by offering incentives. The incentive doesn’t have to be large it could be anything from a local fast food chain gift certificate to a paid afternoon off.
Be available at all times
There is nothing worse than a boss who is never available. If your door is always closed to them they will not fully trust you and trust is an important part of productivity. Often employees need to be heard and by making yourself available with an open door policy your employee will feel more at ease.
Check in every few weeks
Walk around the office and speak to your employees. Ask them how they are, how things are going and is there anything they need? It could go a long way say if Jane is having issues keeping supplies in and she tells you, then you are able to offer her a solution but also helping the other employees have what they need at the same time
Give time lines and objectives
By giving time lines and objectives you are letting your employee know what is expected. Often many people do a better job if they can clearly and fully understand what the expectations are.
Offer to match employee’s fund jar
If your employees keep a jar to gather money for special events, flowers to someone ill or to help a family member of an employee offer to match it each month. This will be a likely write off for you at tax time but also show the employees that not only are they valued by you but that their families are as well.
