Finding Small Business Help
Starting a new business isn’t easy. There are so many business owner’s out there that are always willing to get help in their particular line of business. With so many resources out there, a lot of business owners don’t even know where to start. Some owners know where to start but don’t know which is the best of the best. I’ve compiled a few tips you can apply that can hopefully increase the productivity of you and your business model.
Visit your local chamber of commerce – Visit your local chamber of commerce in your town. If you’re not already a member, become one! There are so many benefits when it comes to belonging to the Chamber of Commerce. You’ll be able to attend meetings with other business owners in your area and you can discuss everything from marketing strategies to the local economy. This is the first place I would start when it comes to getting help for your small business.
Try SCORE – If you haven’t heard of SCORE, it might be time you do a little research on this association. SCORE is a nonprofit that is dedicated to educating entrepreneurs on just about everything from the formation, growth, and success of your small business. SCORE has over 10,000 volunteers dedicated to help owners make their businesses grow!
Visit the Internet- No matter what type of business you’re in, there’s probably a message board or forum online that you can chat with other owners in your business. If you own a hardware store, for example, search for “hardware store owner forums’, etc. to see what you can find. Since most of these owners aren’t in your competing area, it’s easy to share information and reflect on how others become successful.
Simply talk with owners – NEVER be afraid to talk with competitors. Sometimes talking with your competitors is the best thing you can do. Try and find other owners in the area that you can talk to. Ask them how they started, how they are doing, etc. Ask as many questions as possible and form a great relationship. Most business owners are more than willing to help you start.
Check your local paper – No matter where you live in the United States, every city has meetings that you attend that cater to small business owners. Here, you can meet with city officials and share ideas on how to draw in more people to businesses. This is also a great place to network with other owners. Always get numbers and e-mail addresses.
When you need help, never be afraid to find it! There are so many places you can go when you’re looking to get help. Networking is one of the best things you can do when it comes down to helping your small business. There are thousands of people out there that are more than willing to help.
