Looking at Entrepreneur Traits
So, you’re looking to start up your own small business but you don’t know what it takes to run one. Running a profitable business isn’t hard, it just takes a lot of work. The reason most people fail is because they either don’t take action or they simply become lazy. I looked at a few successful entrepreneur and looked at their traits. Here’s what I came up with –
Believe in yourself. I’m a true believe in what you think is where you’re going to go. If you think everything is going to fail, you’re going to head down that road. It’s important that you think positive, so that it allows you to keep your head up. Think positive all the time no matter what the situation is.
Be disciplined. Owning a small business isn’t a walk in the park. In fact, you’re going to have to work more than your average 40 hour a week job. Sure, there are benefit of owning your own business but you’re going to have to work to get there. Make sure that you set a plan and you stick to it, even if it means you have to work 6am – 10pm. In the end, everything will pay off, trust me on this one.
Stick to a plan. When you’re ready to start your own business, create a plan and stick with it. Common sense will generally give you a good idea if your plan is going to succeed. Talk with friends and family before you launch your business. Let’s take an example really quick. If you’re going to put a pizza place in a city of 10,000 and you’re the only pizza place around, it sounds like a good idea. Even if there’s competition, it doesn’t hurt.
Know finances. If you don’t know anything about finances, you’re either going to have to find someone that does or you’re going to need to take classes are you local community college. You’re not going to want to spend a ton of money and not see any money in return. Remember, “it takes money to make money.”
Be passionate. NEVER start a money to make money. Start a money because you love what you do. It’s a lot easier to keep a business running if you love what you do. If you hate cutting grass, don’t start a landscaping business because “there’s money in it”. Instead, look at what you love to do and turn that into a business. Practically anything you can think of can make you money. Marketing will take you a long way.
You can’t fail. If you’ve thought failure is an option, start over. When you’re ready to start your business, failure shouldn’t even cross your mind. If it does, the business you’re going into may not work. As an entrepreneur, failure shouldn’t even cross your mind. Entrepreneurs don’t FAIL.
These are just a few traits that a successful entrepreneur has but I’ve noticed if you have two things, you will succeed for sure. If you have patience and you’re passionate, you can succeed in anything. There are so many lazy people on this planet that they don’t even take the action to do anything. Be above that and do what moves you! It will pay off in the long haul.
