Creating Effective Ads

You own a business and you’re looking to draw more customer through your door.  Well the only way I can think of doing this is by creative advertising.  Look at all the major brands today and closely study on how they advertise.  What do you see?  You see commercials, radio jingles, newspaper ads, etc.  What makes these ads unique and effective?  Let’s find out.

With so many avenues out there, you have to be creative when it comes to ad.  You need something that makes a customer think of you when they think of a product.  For example, when you think of Geico the car insurance company, you think of the gecko.  When you think of McDonalds, you think of the Golden Arches, Ronald McDonald, etc.

Branding is extremly important when it comes to creating your ad.  Let me show you some examples on what you can do when you’re creating ads for particular categories.

Radio:  When you’re creating a radio advertisement, pay someone to create a catchy jingle for you.  Associate this jingle with your commercial every time you make it.  Think of your local businesses and the jingles they have.  They are catchy, right?  You want people to hum those jingles.

TV:  If you have to advertise on the TV, that’s great.  If you’re going to advertise a lot, create a commercial with a mascot or a spokesman.  That way every time that potential customer sees that person, they instantly think of your product.  Once again, think of your local companies and think of the spokespeople they have.

Newspaper:  Newspaper ads in my opinion are one of the best ways to advertise besides the Internet.  Here, you can get your point across and you can offer coupons.  I think coupons are huge because it allows you to track where they are coming from.  With a newspaper ad, try to get a color ad if possible since they stick out more.  Get your message across, offer coupons that are good and watch the customers come in.

By now, you should see where I’m getting at when you’re creating an ad.  You want it to be memorable and you want to run it 100 times and not just one.  When it comes to advertising, you want to brand yourself and the only way to do that is by running commercials all the time.
