Coupon Ideas for your Restaurant

Restaurant couponsIf you own a restaurant, or you’re thinking about opening up one in the near future, there are many ways to promote your place to get people running through your door.  In my opinion, coupons are one of the best ways to get people to try your food.  If they like it, they will be back, without the coupon, trust me on this one.

Now, when it comes time to get coupon ideas, I came up with a few that I thought you could use in order to get your business up and running.

Have a great offer: People can smell a rat from a mile away, and if your coupon has too many conditions, and terms, they won’t even bother.  Offer a great coupon for a limited time, and use simple terms.  Be simple, and the people will come.

You need a great design: While simple can help your business, you don’t want to make it look as if a ten year old made it.  Instead, you’ll want to either hire a professional to do it, or do it yourself.  If your coupons look cheap, this is what they will think of your business, regardless of how good it is.

People love BOGO: When I use the term “BOGO”, I’m talking about the buy one, get one free.  If you offer this type of deal, people are going to take advantage of it.  Yes, you can still make money on these offers, especially if you add in “you have to purchase one drink.”   We all know that many restaurants make the most in terms of profit with a fountain drink.

Frequent eater card: Some restaurants do this, but others don’t.  If you really want to get technical, offer a frequent eaters card.  Let’s say for every 10 meals you buy, you get one free, or you can do it based on a points system.  Not only can you keep in contact with your customers, they will keep coming back as an incentive to eat, because of their card.

In the end, you still want to make a profit with your restaurant, and yes, you can do this with a coupon.  If you’re going to go the coupon route, make sure you know where they are coming from.  You’re going to want to track these.  The more you make from a coupon, the more you’ll want to advertise in that particular advertising source.  Try out some of these tips above, and see how your restaurant can grow!
