Cost Saving Ideas for your Business
If you currently own a business in this climate, there are probably things that you want to do to cut back on costs. It’s always good to cut back on costs not only because it saves you money, it allows you to set aside more cash if the economy starts to dwindle just a little bit more. If you’re out of ideas on how to save money with your business, here are some cost saving tips that you can use.
Look at your employees
Do you need all the employees that you currently have hired? Sure, you may have 3 working at one time but do you see some sitting around at some times? I know with my employees, I would want them to work when they are punched in. If they want to sit down and chat, that’s what a break time is for.
Look over your marketing budget
Some companies run a marketing campaign but never really track it the right way. Are your marketing campaigns working for you? If not, you may want to cut them out or look at other avenues. In a down economy, it’s a great time to find other places that are offering cheap advertising.
Check out your utility bill
Are you running the air or heat when no one is in the shop? If you haven’t already done so, I would recommend you look into a programmable thermostat. Program it so that when you leave and people come into the office, it will set to a comfortable temperature. There’s no need to run your building at 70 degrees when no one is there.
Look at your phone bill
With so many great VOIP services out there, there’s no reason that you should be using a antique land line. Instead, try and find services online that you can use for your business. There are services out there like Skype that can allow you to run you business for as little as $2 a month.
Look over your inventory
Now might be a good time to look over your inventory. Are you buying a lot of items that just sit there and don’t sell? It may be time to get rid of them at a loss and never purchase them again. You’ll have to test, test and test some more until you find the right things that sell for a great price.
Purchase at a discount
The next time you want to purchase something, make sure you do your research. Explore the Internet for coupons, other comparable items and use websites like PriceGrabber.com that will help you find the cheapest price for an item you want.
In the end, it’s up to you to use your imagination to save the company money. Find out what works and what doesn’t and capitalize on it. If it’s making you money, stick with it. If it’s not making you money, you may want to cut ties no matter how glued you are to that particular item.
