Business Attire Dress Code

If you have your own business, and you’re looking for clothing to enforce as a dress code, it is very simple.  Wearing business attire makes your business look much more professional, and causal than ordinary clothes on the streets.  If you’re looking for ideas on what to wear for both men and women, continue reading below to find out what clothes you should enforce for your workplace.

Women –

Tops- It is a good idea for women to wear blouses, polos, blazers, and clothing with no logos or writing.  Anything that looks nice would be good.  Just try to avoid t-shirts, and tank tops especially.  It is up to you on whether you want certain colors, or want all a certain style for everyone.

Bottoms- Dresses, skirts, khakis, and black pants are all great for business attire.  As long as you avoid blue jeans, and leggings, you’ll have a more professional look.

Shoes – If you want a nice business style, avoid all tennis shoes, flip flops, and sneakers.  Instead, try heels, black flats, or nicer dress shoes.

Hair- It all depends on what kind of business you have to start thinking about hair.  If you have a restaurant business, obviously it is a good idea to pull hair back, but if not, there isn’t too much of a concern.

Men –

Tops – It is nice if men wear button up shirts, suit jackets, polos.  Find a certain style you would like your employees to wear, and stick with that.  If you’re lenient, ask your employees what they’d rather wear and once they come up with an answer, stick with that certain style.

Bottoms – Khaki pants, black pants, and suit pants.  Any black or khaki pants is a professional look for your employees.

Shoes – Make sure they have nice shoes.  Have a nice dress style shoe, and avoid all sandals and tennis shoes.  Anything else should be fine.

Hair – Once again, depending on what kind of business you own, all hair will be different.  If you’re dealing with food, it is good to avoid all facial hair, and to enforce shorter hair.  Although, if it doesn’t deal with food, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Choosing your business attire shouldn’t be too difficult.  Come up with what you think is professional looking, and stick with that.  Whether you want to come up with your own shirts, or you only want black pants and button up shirts, it’s your call.  Just to be nice, ask what your employees would like, and what would be easiest.  Finding a nice, and comfortable look is much better than being strict, and enforcing uncomfortable business attire.
