Avoiding Scams with your Business

Preventing scams in businessWhen running a business, you’re going to soon find out that there are many people out there to get your money.  Not only do they want to scam you of your hard earned money, they want to take everything you have.  This is why it’s important that you’re always on the look out for scams, and businesses.

Scams are common no matter where you go, and I came up with a few tips that you can use in order to prevent your company, and yourself from being scammed from the thousands out there that are trying to do so.

Watch out for the e-mails

The first thing that you need to look out for are the e-mails.  If you have your bank, or a website like Paypal asking for information that’s confidential, you don’t want to give it out over your e-mail!  This is most likely going to some scammer that’s going to take advantage of you.

Always get your money first

Never ever just send out an item in hopes of getting money in the future.   Sure, there are a lot of honest people out there, but you can’t expect to walk into a store, and not pay for something.  Always get your money up front, this is the best thing that you can do.

Be on the look out for stolen credit cards

Yes, many people out there steal credit cards, and proceed to use them at businesses like yours.  You’ll want to make sure that you always check ID with the credit card, because if you use a credit card that’s stolen, you’re going to be out the money.  It’s not hard to check IDs.

Watch out for contractors

If you need someone to help you out with your business, whether you need someone to work with you, or do some work on your office, always make sure that you check with the Better Business Bureau.  You want to make sure that you’re working with someone that isn’t going to take your money, and run off for good.

Be careful with checks

Yes, like credit cards, you may find people that want to write checks.  Many businesses today either charge for bounced checks, or don’t accept them at all.  This is entirely up to you if you want to accept checks or not.   In today’s society, I don’t know why people even use checks when you have debit cards.

As long as you use your head, you won’t have a problem with scams at all.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  Play it smart, and you shouldn’t have to worry about scams.
