Accounting Software for Small Businesses
Accounting software is going to be an important part of your business. Without this type of software, you’re not going to know how much money you’re making (or losing), and it will be awfully hard to budget. Sure, you can do it the old fashioned way by pen, and paper, but do you really want to do this, and spend hours on end doing something software can do within seconds?
There’s a lot of software out there for businesses, both free, and paid. I want to show you what I think are the best packages out there that you can explore for your small business.
QuickBooks Pro: This is software I use, and I absolutely love it. Yes, they have a free version, but it limits what you can do with the package. The reason I love QuickBooks so much is because it’s straight forward, and very easy to use. After the year is up, print out a simple file, and hand it off to your accountant.
Microsoft Office Accounting: Yes, Microsoft hit the market with their own accounting software. This complete package is highly recommended by small business owners because it’s very easy to set up, it allows you to work with other Microsoft Office programs, and it includes features where you can easily sell online, get paid faster, and even gain access to your credit reports!
PeachTree by Sage: PeachTree has been around for a while, but it remains to be a favorite by many, but not as hot as what it used to be. If you’re looking for another piece of software that you want to compare, PeachTree would be that piece. PeachTree includes basic, and yet advanced features like job costing, time and billing, as well as in-depth inventory capabilities.
Obviously, there are more packages than this on the market, but these are by far the top three in the business industry. Check them out for yourself, and see how they work for you.
