Accepting Credit Cards Online

Running a business online can be tricky, especially if you’re new to the game.  If you want any type of customer, and you want them to buy something, you’re going to have to accept credit cards.

How can you accept credit cards online?

Paypal - Paypal is probably one of the most easiest ways to set up payments online.  Here, customers will be able to either pay you from their paypal account, or they can pay by credit card, check, and more.  If you add paypal as a payment option to yoru website, you can expect a nice increase in business, when people are looking to buy online.

Sign with a merchant account - If you want to use something besides Paypal, you will most likely want to look into a credit card merchant account.  Make sure that you explore at least 3-5, because they are all going to vary in prices, and rates, when you use them.  It’s also a wise idea to look for reviews as well, to make sure that you’re not getting yourself into a scam.

Services that you may want to look into when you’re looking for a merchant account are the following –

  • AUTHORIZE.NET: This company offers great support, as well as shopping carts for your website.  You’re going to find that they also offer very competitive rates.
  • CHARGE.COM: Charge.com is another one that offers very competitive rates online.  The great thing about this company is that you don’t have to pay for the software they use.
  • 2CHECKOUT.COM: The last service that I would recommend that you look into is 2CHECKOUT.  They offer their rates up front, and from what I’ve looked at, they seem to be fairly competitive as well.

Try these 3 sites as well as Paypal, and see who fits the best with your business.  Without accepting credit cards, you’re going to find that it’s going to be awfully hard to stay in business.
