9 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog
As a business owner, you’re soon going to find out that you’re going to want an online presence. Whether you’re doing it in form of blogging, and a website, or maybe just a blog, I wanted to give you 14 simple, yet effective tips that can draw a bunch of visitors to your website.
#1 Invite friends and family: It sounds really silly, but it can be effective. Your brother can tell a friend at work, and it can spread like wildfire if enough people like it. Remember, create unique content, and make something that people actually want to come to.
#2 Interact with other bloggers: Start searching out other blogs online, and comment on their post. You will want to leave something that’s actually worth reading. Don’t post things such as, “Great Job!”, or “Nice Blog.” You’ll just get noted for spam, and can hurt your reputation.
#3 Submit to directories: There are plenty of directories out there. What you can do is find the free ones, and throw your blog URL out there. This will help your backlink profile, which in turn will help you gain higher rankings in the search engines.
#4 Answer questions: Yahoo! Answers, as well as a few others such as Answers.com and others allow you to answer questions, and place your link in the answer. DON’T over do it, but rather answer in an educated way, and place your link within the answer.
#5 Forums: There’s a forum out there for everything. Whether you want to talk about cows, or maybe fighting, find some message boards that you can work with. Post some responses, and be sure to leave a signature. 90% of the blogs out there allow you to do so.
#6 Guest Posts: Find other bloggers, and ask them if you can write them an article. Make it a great article, and ask for a simple link back. By doing so, you can gain some exposure with the web community.
#7 Offline marketing: Offline marketing still works. Print out business cards, flyers, papers, and more. Put these on car windows, throw them around the neighborhood, and more!
#8 PPC: This is a paid way, but places like Bing, Google Adwords, and others have great advertising platforms where you pay for every click sent your way. Target keywords, and figure out how to draw massive traffic to your blog.
#9 Facebook: Facebook is an awesome platform to advertise on. What you will want to do is either create a fan page, or just advertise. It’s a great way to draw targeted users.
The goal here is to make sure that you keep your blog fresh. You will want to post on a weekly basis, and over time, your search ranking will rise. Get backlinks, spread the word, and the most important thing is to NEVER give up.
