7 Ways to Build a High Performance Team

Business is all about sales, and when you’re looking to build a team that’s going to sell, I wanted to give you a few good pointers that you can take to heart.  By applying these tips, hopefully you can increase your sales quota month, by month.

Look around the building: How’s your atmosphere?  Is it somewhere that you want to work?  If the building is lacking character, and no one wants to be there, how can you expect people to work?  Jazz the place up a little bit, and make the place feel like a second home.

Let them talk to you: No one likes a boss, or leader that’s closed minded.  You can’t shoot down people every time they talk to you.  Instead, you want to have an open mind, and make sure everyone always brings ideas to you.  Just like asking a question, there’s no such thing as a bad one.

Be positive: Never EVER be negative in the workplace.  This is going to spread like wild fire.  Even if you don’t think you’ll meet certain goals, look back on the past, and see how you can meet them.  It’s the best to keep your head up high, and always talk about the best, rather than the worst situation / scenario.

Be successful: Look around, and if you’re surrounded by a bunch of dead beats, it’s going to be contagious.  You may want to sit back, and hire new people.   If everyone around you is working hard, and selling, this is going to be picked up by others.

Have a plan: You can’t just start going out, and selling things.  What are your goals?  What are your plans?  Do you want to sell 5,000 items in one month?  If so, you need to let everyone know what their deal is.  You want everyone to have their own goal, and you want them to work hard at it.

Discipline in a good way: If people screw up, and they don’t meet their goals, let them know about it.  You can’t let things slip.  Yes, you can be a great boss, but just don’t let anything slide.

Give out rewards: People love working for a goal.  Set goals, and offer rewards.  For example, if someone meets 500 sales, offer a vacation, or something spectacular.  Remember, no one wants to work for a $5 gift card to a local coffee shop.

Building a high performance team starts on day 1.  You want to build a team that’s going to be best for your business.  Follow some of these tips, and let’s cross our fingers that you’ve always built a team that you’ve dreamed of building!
