Recession Proof Businesses

Let’s face it, unless you’re hiding under a rock, you know that the economy isn’t doing that hot right now.  Whether you’re out of a job, or you’re looking for a business to start up during a down economy, I want to recommend a few ideas that you should check out.  Now, remember that not every business is going to survive a recession, but instead, some will be stronger than others.

The dating market: Everyone is always going to look for a companion, no matter how rough the waters are out there.  Just because someone doesn’t have a lot of money, doesn’t mean he/she wants to go out and find a potential date.   Anything in this niche will explode any time of the year.

The baby market: People have babies every day, and whether it’s their first or fifth, they will always need supplies, clothing, and more for their new born.  When you target new parents, they are always willing to go into debt for their newborn.

The wedding market: Just like a baby, people are going to get married.  Since many soon to be newlyweds plan a wedding years in advanced, they will not know what the economy will look like.  When they plan the wedding, they will need a ton of services that you can take advantage of.

The death business: I know it sounds bad, but just like weddings, and babies, people are going to sadly die.  When you think of death, you think of bad things, but when it comes to business, people are going to pay up to make sure their loved ones get the proper treatment.

The repo man: Yes, you can get into the repo business, even if you don’t have any experience.  Since banks will always need cars back that are late on payments, it’s going to be your job to confiscate those cars.  The more cars you get, the more you make.

The education business: Are you good with something?  Why not teach to others?  When the economy is bad, people want to learn new things so that they can make more money.  This is a great way to open up a tutoring shop, or even a shop with a tutoring extension.  For example, you could open up a computer repair shop with classes that teach people about Microsoft products, the Internet, and more.

By now, this should give you a great idea on what industry you should look into.  There are so many options when it comes to opening up a business.  If you want to still thrive during a down economy, I would strongly consider some of these options.

A lot of people have the dream of working for themselves.  You can’t blame them, you get to create your own hours, choose the business you’d like to run, you get to be in charge of everyone else, and you don’t have anyone to tell you what to do.  How nice would that be?  There are definitely a lot of perks when your a business owner, but really it is made for only some people.  But how do you know if it would be the right choice for you or not?  Find out what it takes to start up your own business and to be successful.

Money – First of all, we know that it takes money to start a business.  Do you have money set aside that you could use to get an office, get all the supplies needed to start it up, and money for all the monthly costs?

This should be money that is saved away, and money that you’d feel comfortable with spending.  This means you’re not living paycheck to paycheck, and that you still have emergency money if you need it.

Managing skills – Do you have good managing skills?  Do you have the patience to work with people, a good temper, are you good at being leader, and can you handle stressful situations?  This is a must, if you want to be a good business owner.

Skills – Do you have the skills to start up a business?  Are you good with computers, are smart you and could be a tutor, or could you turn your hobbies into a business to make money?  There are so many things you could do to start up a business, you just need that special talent or skill.

Be informed – If you’re new to the business world, you need to make sure you’re informed with everything you’re getting yourself into.  Figure out all the costs, find a business plan, a location for your business, and most importantly, you need to know that discipline is a must to succeed!  Just because you work for yourself doesn’t mean you don’t have to work or only when you feel like it.  Work is work and it needs to get done.

Creating a business can be stressful, yet it can be successful, so if you have what it takes to be a business owner, go for it!  Not everyone can handle this pressure, but if you were born a leader, and you have a good feeling about this, shoot for your dreams.  People need people like you so they can find jobs!  Just be sure to key in everything mentioned above!

When we go through years of school, especially when we go to college, we are more than ready to find that job we’ve been working so hard for.  We spent a lot of hours studying, going to class, and a lot of money spent to be where we are right now.  So, how can we find that  job that we’ve been looking for so we can start making money?  A great thing to do once you’re done with school/college is to make your own resume.  Resumes are great because you can simply hand them to employers to look at, and they discuss everything you’ve accomplished in your life as of now.

Resumes sound pretty great right?  Now you just need to know how to create your own.  If you’re looking for step by step directions on how to do so, continue reading below to find out how!

Tells us about yourself - First, you’ll want to start out by giving your personal information.  This is usually your name, phone number, fax number, address, and your e-mail so they can contact you.

Schooling – Next, you’ll want to write where you’ve attended school.  First, start with your high school and write out the dates you’ve attended and the name of the school.  Then, if you’ve attended college, write out what you have a degree in, where you attended, and years you went.

NOTE: If you received a good GPA in high school or college, be sure to add that in.  Good grades means you are willing to work hard for what you want!

Jobs – Write out all the jobs you’ve had.  Although skip the ones if you’ve been fired or didn’t work there for very long.  Just write out the main ones, and how long you worked there.

Experience – If you have any experience with what you graduated with, or, if you have any experience in the job that you’re applying for, write it down!  For example, if you’re looking for a teaching job, and you’ve tutored or have helped out in a classroom setting, let them know!  The more experience the better, so don’t be afraid to write all your accomplishments and achievements!

Activities – Are you involved with any activities?  For example if you volunteer anywhere, mention that!  Or if you play sports, etc.

As you can see, there are a few important things you need to include when it comes to creating a resume.  If you add what is listed above, it will be much easier for you to find a job.  Employers love resumes, and they are much more professional.
