12 Ways to Advertise your Business

Advertising is what creates your business, and without advertising, you’re going to find that you’re not going to be in business for very long.  From word of mouth based marketing, to advertising the old media form, such as TV, etc, there are countless ways to advertise your business.

Giveaways: People love giveaways.  Head to conventions, or give away something small at your store.  Whether it be a pen, mouse pad, or whatever, there are so many things to give away.

Coupons: Everyone loves a coupon, and they love to save money.  No matter what kind of business that you run, you will find that you can give out a coupon for just about anything.

Send out a press release: The media will eat up a lot of stuff.  Create something that’s unique, and let the media know.  If they like it, they will come.  Remember, you have to be unique here!

Social media: Social media is huge nowadays.  Join groups such as Facebook, and Twitter.  If you have a hot service that many people know about, you can gain millions of members over night.

Hold classes: Let’s say that you own a computer repair shop.  You can offer free classes for the night, when it comes down to drawing people to your shop.  Remember, you just want to get people in your door.

Relate to your customer: Whenever you have a customer, make sure that you keep in contact with them.  Send them thank you letters, offer special sales, and more.

Business cards: Business cards are huge.  If you’re going anywhere, you never know if you’re going to run into someone.  Make it a habit to keep your business card in your wallet.

Submit on Craigslist: Craigslist is free, and yes, it’s competitive, but it never hurts to post your services online, to see what kind of reaction you can get from people.

Be online: Every business today should have a web presence.   Make sure you have a website, you know how to market online, and draw traffic to your site, outside of your brick, and mortar store.

Claim your business on Google: Google has a great local marketplace, where you can claim your business, and add coupons, and more.  It’s something that you should do today.

Post on forums: There’s a message board for EVERYTHING.  Find a forum that you can relate with, and post on there.  Don’t spam your store, but rather leave a “signature” on each post, if the message board allows it.

Old media: Yes, you can still advertise on the radio, in the papers, and on TV.  It’s going to be expensive, but the results could be huge!  Learn the market, before you subscribe though.
